We Support Charles West

Here at the Webb House, we are big supporters of our friend, Charles West. Charles is running for Maryville City School Board and if you don't know him, trust us. If you live in the city of Maryville and don't know who you should vote for in the election, know that we would trust Charles with any decisions that would effect our child's education, without hestitation. He and Chip graduated high school and college together and have been friends for years. Charles is a lifelong member of our church and we are in Sunday School with he and his wife Mary Beth. He has two daughters, Elizabeth and Maggie (who is the same age as Cooper). Here are a couple of photos to show just how serious we are about our Charles West support!

Boo at the Zoo

Last night we visited the Knoxville Zoo's yearly event, Boo at the Zoo. Not all it's cracked up to be, in my opinion. WAY over-crowded, but the kids had fun gawking at all the other crazy folks in costume and, of course, collecting candy. We were disappointed that the only animals we saw were the zebra and elephants. I was pretty scared myself of all the spooky ghosts and goblins, so I can imagine that most animals would not have handled it any better. Mimi is working on their Halloween costumes right now, so Cooper wore last year's race car driver costume and Kendall wore Cooper's dental scrubs from two Halloween's ago. Of course they were cute no matter what!

Friends, Another UT Game & a Birthday Party

We've had a slow blogging week. I think most of you already know that Chip and I have had a busy week and have our thoughts in other places right now. Thank you all so much for you thoughts and prayers in addition to grandparents helping with the kids! We got some much-needed time to ourselves this weekend which included a couple of meals out, shopping and just time alone. I can't exactly remember the last time we had that! So...a big thank you.

Last weekend, on Friday morning, I had my great friends Julie and Christina over and their kids Cody, Cade, Emma and Lydia. Sweet Madelyn was in school during all the fun. We baked and decorated cookies, enjoyed lunch and some serious play time.

The kids were very interested in what the dogs were doing outside! Not surprisingly, this was the only shot of all five kids, minus Cade, that I got all morning.

Cody and Cooper wanted one of the race tracks put together. Julie told them we needed daddies here to do that. So, Cooper took matters into his own hands and went and dug out the instructions. He'll learn soon enough...daddies don't read the instructions!

We didn't find a sitter for the UT game last weekend, so Kendall and I stayed home while Cooper got to attend his second game of the season, this time with Mimi and Grandad, too.

We always seem to be missing one Webb (and Sam...maybe next year). Maybe before the season is over the four Webb men can attend a game together. At the same time. Notice again that Cooper made it until the end of the game with little or no problems.

Sunday afternoon was the perfect afternoon for an outdoor party...cool, but perfectly warm in the sunshine. So we headed to our friend Price's house for his second birthday party. Price got a new swingset for his birthday, had an inflatable castle of fun and loads of other activities. We are thinking of having Kendall's party at the Davis' house next month! If only they would let us! It was a great weekend, once again.

Cooper and Ty are really great kids. Apart. Together...not so much. This is a very innocent-looking photo. The rest of the photos I have of them are pretty much nothing but well-documented trouble.


You may remember Kendall and Drew's first kiss in our basement during a UT away game. Apparently, they like each other. I don't know what concerns me more...the kissing or that Drew doesn't keep his eyes on the road at all times when driving w/ my daughter in the car.

Shimmy Shimmy Shake

We have a new favorite book in our house. Kendall's favorite character, in a book, is Pookie (created by Sandra Boynton) and is in the running for Favorite Character of All Time with Dora, Dora the Explorer. Pookie has two books. You may have heard me comment on Kendall's "shimmy" in the previous video. This is a product of Pookie's second book, "Let's Dance Little Pookie" where Pookie and his Mommy hop, march and dance to their very own beat. Pookie loves to "shimmy, shimmy shake, in your very own style, with a little Pookie beat and a little Pookie smile." Kendall gets VERY upset if she wants to read "Shimmy" and you do not immediately oblige. Hence, Kendall's Shimmy. Enjoy. We certainly do. Often.

It is truly amazing how well she can multi-task...eating a snack, dancing and saying "cheese" for the camera all at the same time.

We had a fun weekend, but potty training and keeping Cooper in big boy underwear definitely was the focus of the past several days. On Friday afternoon, after the kids woke up, we got the BIG train track out, got in our comfy clothes and turned on a Jack Johnson cd. While Chip put the train together and I started homemade soup for dinner (boy, are we traditional or what? The man builds something while the woman cooks?? Wow.), the kids started dancing. It was too good to leave out of a blog. You'll hear me say something about "shimmy" to Kendall. This is the plot of her favorite book, about a dancing pig. You'll have to make sure you have your sound turned up or the effect isn't quite the same. Funny, but not the same!

There will be plenty more to post on in the next few days...We had friends over on Friday morning to make messy, messy cookies, Cooper got to go to his second UT football game of the month, and we had a blast at our friend Price's second birthday party this afternoon. Hope you all had as great of a weekend as we did!

Painting, Pumpkins and Pottying

This is by far my favorite title on the blog so far. Yesterday was a big day. I didn't work, as is normal on Thursdays now and I was prepared for an active, stimulating, fun day with the kids. However, yesterday morning while changing diapers/pull-ups after waking up, something made me tell Cooper that today we were wearing Big Boy Underwear. He actually got excited, unlike the first time where he screamed and broke into tears, taking about 2 hours to finally calm down. So, Cooper wore his underwear all day yesterday, having only one accident after nap. For his efforts, he got a new race track for his Matchbox cars and is still playing with it. I'm sure he even dreamed about it. So, we were not going out yesterday...homebound we were, for sure!

We enjoyed painting, but the kids LOVED mixing all the colors and creating what looked like mud. So, sorry Aunt Kara, you didn't get any Christmas gifts made for you yesterday! ;)

Grammy and Cooper went on a field trip Wednesday with Cooper's class to the Maple Lane Farms pumpkin patch and brought home three pumpkins. So, we decided to paint two of them and somehow one of us got the idea that gluing feathers would be fantastic fun. And it actually was!

The evening ended with playing with Cody, as so many of these wonderful fall evenings lately have. Walmart has the BEST pumpkin decorations...no knives, no mess. Cody's pumpkins at his house have monsters and ours have animals. Our doorstep is officially the best looking one in the neighborhood (I ran my own survey!).

This was the first project, just a simple painting on canvas. However, notice my mistake in the lower right corner...leaving the paint where the kids could get their messy hands all over them!

The Park

We took a trip to Sandy Springs Park on Monday, just the three of us...and then we stayed for so long, we met Daddy for lunch! Beautiful weather, beautiful company!

Fall Festival

We had a fantastic time at the fall festival...yet another year that the festival had warm, wonderful weather. Thanks to Grammy who joined us for the afternoon...it was easier to keep an eye on the kids with 3 sets of eyes instead of two! Plus, she took some pictures, too, which is always a plus!

The kids loved the ball pit. Kendall mimicked the girl working it by telling her "bye-bye Sweetie" when she left! We got there right when it opened at noon and we didn't have to stand in line for anything! Things were quite different an hour later!

Grammy made a new friend!

Cooper loved the excavating activites! We said we could have left them there, went and had lunch, came back and they would have been in the same spot! Don't worry, we didn't!

Quite a Weekend

We have had a very busy and fun weekend! I'm happy to say that Friday started with me winning my last tennis match of the fall season! I LOVE to win. However, poor Chip played a 6 hour round of golf with some dentist-friends and apparently learned that even golf gets old after a while.

After my match (and around Chip's 5th hole), the kids and I decided to decorate a little bit for fall with door decorations, scarecrows and other such essentials. The kids kept "scaring" the scarecrow, which they thought was absolutely HILARIOUS!

Saturday night we enjoyed one last swim in the pool next door...Ok, the kids did. The adults were a little less shark-like and stuck to the hot tub. I'm not sure HOW they stayed in the pool, but it must have looked good...eventually Chip decided to join them!! Yikes! In this picture, the boys have located the moon. There are two more moons that I captured a picture of last night, but it is not appropriate for everyone to see on the internet!!

Here they go again...something tells me this cars-obsession phase is not a passing trend with these two boys.

Tonight before dinner and bath, we helped our friends decorate their "monster" pumpkins. Kendall's future husband, Drew, might be a little jealous of this picture!

Cooper's Quotes: We were riding in the car one rainy morning last week. Cooper says from the backseat, "Mommy, is the rain making the trees grow?" Yes, I say. "Is God making it rain?" Yes, of course, I say. "Then God is making the trees grow??" YES, He is!!!!!

We will be posting some more on the fall festival in the next day or so. We had beautiful weather this weekend...unbeatable, to say the least and we hope your weekend was as fantastic as ours.

Weekly Update (& nothing else about the UT game)

Watch out if you're in the neighborhood! Cooper and Cody think they have learned how to drive. This is pretty much what these boys live for!

I'm not sure how this got started, but the kids started playing in the bathtub around 4PM. There were bathtub "markers" involved, which later led to us having no choice but to run the water. This is currently Kendall's (ok, and mine) favorite shirt...a hand-me-down from the Wilbourns that says "Everybody loves a brown-eyed girl!" I hope that is true, 'cause we sure have enough of them in the family!

Look carefully. You'll see Cooper has written his name, just not in order and missing the R.

This week was Fall Break around town, including at our little Parents' Day Out. Therefore, Mommy had to get creative with child care and Cooper attended an art camp two days this week. He LOVED it. I'm already thinking this might be the spot for his next birthday party...over six months away!

We visited the park on a beautiful Sunday evening last weekend. Us and about 1000 of our closest friends in our county. The kids LOVED the BIG slide that we normally don't play on. I don't think they ever knew what their hair looked like as they came down!

We've had a pretty uneventful week for the most part. We're looking forward to the fall festival this weekend, a tennis match, golf with friends, hair appointments, errands in Knoxville (w/o kids, wow!!), a UT football game where we'll hopefully remind Georgia of how badly we beat them last year (sorry Aunt Em), and hopefully some unbeatable weather. It'll be busy and nonstop, but hopefully a perfect weekend nonetheless!

Oh, and Grandad, we hope you're feeling better!!!!

GoVolsTouchdownTennessee

OK, maybe just one more blog post on the football game. I have about ten more videos I could post, but most are of Cooper saying the same thing...a quick, one-word version of "Go Vols, Touchdown Tennessee" and then zooming his face into the camera. He thought this was hysterically funny at one point and wanted to do it over and over. In hindsight, I think it may be possible that Cooper had a touch too much sugar on Saturday. First, he got a SWISS CAKE ROLL from Aunt Angie when he sat still while getting a hair cut (I mean, seriously...what happened to a good old fashioned sucker?), second, we went to a birthday party right before the game where he licked an incredible amount of icing off of a cupcake that was more icing than cake & then he ate a nothing-but-sugar sucker that was his party favor. Add those things to the fact that he had a great day using the potty and got two pieces of candy for each time and you've got yourself one sugared-up kid! He ate an entire box of popcorn at the game so you would have thought that those carbs and salt would have absorbed the sugar. Apparently not! I watched every single one of these short videos again tonight. I can probably say that I could watch them every night and never get bored. It was amazing how happy he was. There are few words to describe his mood that night other than blissful, ecstatic, and on-top-of-the-world! The video clips and pictures you've seen are honestly what he was like the ENTIRE game. It was fun being his mommy and daddy (and Uncle, I can only assume) that day for sure!

Below is a picture of Kendall...I feel like she's been left out of the blog since it's been all about the football game she did NOT attend. This photo is from Saturday at her friend Lydia's birthday party. For those of you that aren't good at math, Lydia and Kendall are a little over a month apart, so I think they will be friends for a long time. This is Lydia and we have almost the same picture, at the same table from Lydia's first birthday last year. I smell a tradition!

More UT Game bits

I failed to mention in the previous post how entertaining Cooper was to the people around us. There was one gentleman, however, that didn't seem to think a size 7 tennis shoe in his back about 8 thousand times was very funny, therefore, not laughing like all the other nice people around us.


Cooper enjoyed letting everyone know that he had to go potty. This was a very inconvenient time, seeing as the Vols were about 2 plays away from scoring (a field goal). Upon his return, he asked for candy in a very enthusiastic voice. This led a couple of fans around us to turn and laugh, which is when I told them they, too, would get candy if they went potty!

Cooper enjoyed chanting "Defense, Defense," which occassionally came out sounding like "GoFense" since he was also changing "Go Vols" over and over again.

Our only disappointment came with the lack of fireworks. We all can probably agree that UT should have seen a whole lot more of them Saturday night (they earn fireworks everytime they score) and we made the mistake of promising Cooper there would always be more (there wasn't).

The Tennessees are Coming!

We have lots to post from our weekend, but the most important event of the whole weekend was the UT game. The Vols finally got another win, albeit ugly. More importantly, Cooper got to attend his second UT game and this one was far better than last year, when he was recovering from stitches in his upper lip and lack of sleep. The title of this blog came from Cooper at the end of half-time. He wanted to know when the team was coming back and when I told him "soon" he said "the Tennessees are coming!!" in the most excited voice I had ever heard! Once, during the game Chip said "Come on, we just need 5 yards." Cooper would NOT stop saying "5 yards???" for the entire second half. When Stephens completed a long pass to Gerald Jones, Cooper jumped up and down and cheered with everyone else, asking me "5 yards? 5 yards?"

This same picture was taken last year on Daddy's shoulders. Maybe we can get one every year from now on! That might get difficult after about age 10, but who cares?!

We're missing a couple of Webb boys from this picture...maybe next year Sam and Grandad can join them!

This was after the game, somewhere around 10PM. The smile definitely had not faded. And although he was asleep by the time we were half-way home, his mood had not changed from the start of the game. We were extremely happy we decided to take him!

We have more pictures and some videos of Cooper doing the wave, cheering and chanting "DEFENSE, DEFENSE" (not always when necessary!). We also have some other pictures from the weekend, but the blog wouldn't hold that many!!

It's Football Time on Our Street!

Tonight when we got home from work, it was too much of a beautiful evening to go inside. Soon, Cody was joining us for a romp in the grass (literally). The boys decided that they wanted to be thrown into the quarterback competition over at UT. Kendall seemed a little less than enthused to cheer them on and Cade was pretty upset that he couldn't get in on the fun, given that he can't walk or crawl yet. So, as usual, it was the Cooper & Cody Show.

This was the pre-game photo shoot. Much like Crompton & Stephens at UT this week, Cooper and Cody share quarterback duties for Team T*our street*.

A high-five on the sideline for a job well done is a must for any good teammates!
